Reason #33: BEIGNETS
BEIGNETS BEIGNETS BEIGNETS!!!! For those who are unfamiliar, a beignet (the french word for doughnut), is basically a small, fluffy, delicious, fried-dough ball that is doused in powdered sugar.
Beignets are the official state doughnut of Louisiana. These delicious pastries were brought to Louisiana by descendants of French migrants… and thank God for that!
Best served hot (and in my opinion with a cup of hot chocolate for dipping), beignets are deliciously crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The most famous place to order beignets is Cafe Du Monde, right along the river in the French Quarter. People may wait hours in line to taste a Cafe Du Monde beignet, and for good reason! Cafe Du Monde has delicious beignets, and in my opinion, the best hot chocolate in town!
Until next time…
